About Katy Messcu

Katy MesscuMy guiding philosophy is that children want to learn. It is in their make-up to explore the world and what it has to offer. I try to create a loving and welcoming atmosphere where children feel comfortable. I feel it is my job to give children the space, tools, information and guidance to help them on their musical journey.

Learning an instrument is challenging and pleasurable, with the ultimate goal being a sense of accomplishment in the playing of their instrument and a love of music which hopefully will stay with your child throughout their life.

Credentials

When I was 9 years old, I started lessons with Darlene Brigidear in South Surrey, which I continued until receiving my Associateship, Piano Teacher, with the Royal Conservatory of Toronto in 1998.

I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.

I taught piano lessons for 6 years in White Rock before moving to Vancouver and have recently started teaching again in Ocean Park. I am really enjoying teaching again. I love the one-on-one time I get with each student during their lessons, and seeing the progress they are making in their musical journey.

I am a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association.
